Often your personal needs take a backseat to your to-do list or the demands of others. You hurry from one thing to the next, trying to keep all those plates spinning, only to crawl into bed at the end of the day feeling exhausted, trapped, and dreading having to get up and do it all again tomorrow.
It can feel like you’re on a hamster wheel racing around in circles trying desperately to fulfil all the obligations and demands on your time. When you do finally manage to stop you are too exhausted to really make the most of it. Despite your best efforts there just doesn’t seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel, which can feel soul-destroying, overwhelming, and leave you questioning ‘is this it’?
You know there has got to be more to life than this ‘rinse and repeat’ rut you are in. You see it when you look at social media. You feel it when you stare out the window at work. You know it as you lie in bed at night. That feeling of wanting more is bubbling away inside you and if something doesn’t change soon you fear you might reach a breaking point.
I get it, you are not alone.
Sometimes it seems that life is passing us by and despite our best efforts to do it all, we’re left feeling frazzled and disconnected with the weight of expectation and obligation hanging like an anchor around our necks. We’re surviving, not thriving.
Not so long ago I was in your shoes, dragging myself through life, searching for the light. I was miserable, stuck, and completely disconnected from myself and the people around me. I was trying so hard to stuff down my feelings and put my professional mask on that I completely lost myself.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
